This year, my resolution was to start blogging about the things I do and use in my classroom to help my students achieve success. I have read several blogs about education and I thought to myself, "Hey, I can do that." So, here goes.
One of my favorite classroom implementations over the past five years was adding Google Classroom into my and my students' daily routine. A place where students could go to find resources, work collaboratively, and complete tasks whether at school or at home sounded like an amazing innovation. It always struck me as odd, though, that the Google Classroom platform did not allow for assigning tasks to individual students. That all changed two weeks ago.
With the newest update to Google Classroom came the one thing I wanted from this service. I can now send different sets of resources to each of my students. My student who speaks Spanish only can now have just the translated set of resources presented to them without having to sift through all of the other in-English resources. I can assign differentiated assessments to each student without having to have students guess which link they need to click. Thanks to Google, my students digital classroom just became a little less cluttered and a little more personal.
Sometimes it's the little things in life that make me most happy. This little change made the teacher in me very, very happy. Maybe a little too happy.
